This all started with the little cockle shell. I had been eating scallops and the shells were sitting on the table close to my beadwork. I was currently working on the early versions of the Fan-tastic Variations and saw a shell shape within.
I isolated a single fan and added a little Magatama drop bead as the pearl in the centre. I know cockles don’t make pearls, but… indulge me! After that I had a vision of marine life entwined with a frond of seaweed.
So the seaweed became populated with octopus, starfish, jellyfish, coral, a sea anemone and a sea slug, and finished off with a sea horse sitting on the toggle.
