After all the fun I had making Gorgeous Giorgio, I went on a mission searching for interestingly-shaped stone donuts. I found this Unakite one in Bead Aura, Neal’s Yard; the combination of pink with green was irresistible and I also had a lot of 2mm olivine crystals which would work perfectly with it.
Unlike its raised, curved front, the back of the donut is very flat, which was a little challenging getting the two sides to match up, but I got there in the end and really loved working on the wings and tail. I think the Bird of Joy is a ‘He’, (don’t ask me why), and he makes me smile when I look at his happy beak!
